    Fantasy

Fantasy novels break the rules of reality as we know them and make up new ones. Often, these new rules are explained by magic.  Although traditionally set in a medieval-like world, fantasies can be found in many different cultures and time periods. A growing trend in fantasies is the Urban Fantasy genre, where the time and place are set in today's world and magic works.
