    • Project Gutenberg is the oldest and most famous of the free ebook websites. They offer over 39,000 titles, most of which are distributed as Public Domain. Contains Kindle friendly content. www.gutenberg.org

    • The Digital Collections at the Library of Congress contains a wide variety of digital collections, offering resources such as Historical Newspapers from 1860-1920 as well as over one million historical prints and photographs. www.loc.gov

    • The Internet Public Library has an index of free book sites. From Project Gutenberg to Inkmesh this index lists a wide variety of free ebook sites as well as eReader information, reviews, and help resources. www.ipl.org

    • Feedbooks is similar to Project Gutenberg and Open Library in that it offers free public domain books; in addition, they offer free books by emerging authors. http://www.feedbooks.com

    • Online Books Page provides over one million free books. Sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania, it is searchable by author, title, and subject. Contains lists of Pulitzer, Newbery, and Nobel prize winners in its database. http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu

    • Many Books offers 29,000 titles and allows the user to search by favorite genre. Features content for Kindles. http://manybooks.net

    • Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library offering free public access to collections of digitized materials, including websites, music, moving images, and nearly three million public-domain books. https://archive.org
