Midtown Connector Project Update; 12th Street Partial Closure

The area affected by the Midtown Connector Project continues to grow as the City’s contractor finishes implementation of the project’s Phase III lane closure and detour plan.
Beginning Monday, Monday, March 31 and continuing through mid-2015, the north bound lanes of 12th Street (between Campbell Avenue and Buchanan Street) will be closed to allow for the completion of Phase III of the Midtown Connector Project.  A detour route will be in place, and temporary signals will be located at the intersections of Buchanan Street and Park Avenue and Buchanan Street and 12th Street.  Motorists should allow extra time when traveling through the Kemper Street and 12th Street areas due to the long term impacts to traffic or use alternate routes during this construction.
The Midtown Connector construction project began during the summer of 2012 and is expected to be complete in the summer of 2015. The $18 million project includes road widening, a roundabout, and upgrades to storm sewers, water lines, sanitary sewers and pedestrian facilities.
