    The library has created several special collections to help serve your needs. There are small collections in both the Main Library and the Downtown Branch Library.

    Adult Hi/Low and ESL


    Browse high interest topics with short and simple descriptions. These items are for new learners of the written English language.


    Not only can you find Christmas crafts and stories here, there are Halloween, Easter, and Valentine's day books too. 

    Public Law Library The Public Law Library, located at the Downtown Branch Library, is a collection of law and legal resources. Look up state and local codes, find rulings on cases, and get legal forms.

    Local History

    Interested in the news and people of the past? We have newspaper clippings and microfilm, old city directories, and histories of Lynchburg. For more extensive histories or genealogy research, please visit the Jones Memorial Library

    Martin Luther King, Jr. Center

    The MLK, Jr. Center was established in 1991. Its purpose is to provide for the development and maintenance of a focal point for human rights concerns in our community. It is located in the quiet room of the Main Library.


    The library subscribes to many  popular magazines and regional newspapers. Get the latest news from the The Roanoke Times, recipes from Fine Cooking, and financial information from Forbes. Digital copies of some periodical titles are now available through Zinio.
