Donate Gifts to the Friends
The Friends of the Lynchburg Public Library accept gifts of gently-used books, magazines, videos, or DVDs. The same evaluative criteria that are applied to the selection of purchased materials are used to decide whether donated items will be added to the Library's collections.
Items that are not added to the collections become part of the Friends ongoing book sale, which generates monies for the purchase of new materials, programs, equipment, etc.
There are some items we simply can't use. These include newspapers, Reader's Digest Condensed Books, National Geographic Magazines, and encyclopedias and science or technical textbooks.
Bring your donations to either library during open hours. If you have a large number of items to donate, call ahead to make arrangements to drop them off. The library does not assign a value to the donated items, but will provide a receipt indicating that we have received the materials. Donations to the Friends are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
