    Boards & Commissions

    The following boards and commissions will have vacancies when terms end in December 2015:

    • Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) - 5 vacancies (3 eligible to serve again)
    • Design Review Board - 1 vacancy (eligible to serve again)
    • Horizon Behavioral Health - 1 vacancy (eligible to serve again)
    • Lynchburg Regional Airport Commission - 2 vacancies (1 eligible to serve again)
    • Planning Commission - 4 vacancies (1 eligible to serve again)
    • Towing Advisory Board - 3 vacancies (all eligible to serve again)

    Browse through the list of volunteer opportunities below and consider submitting an application for membership to one of these City Council-appointed boards.  City Council will fill vacancies as they become available, reviewing applications from the volunteer pool throughout the year.     All Boards and Commissions are subject to the rules and regulations of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Virginia Conflicts of Interest Act and the Virginia Public Records Act, which are updated annually. 

    Each individual must complete an application to identify any special talent, experience or educational preparation which might be helpful to a board or commission. Most boards require residency within the City of Lynchburg.  To apply to serve on the School Board, a separate SCHOOL BOARD APPLICATION is required.

    Board and commission members are expected to attend at least 75% of the regular meetings, and membership is usually limited to three consecutive terms.
