Trash is collected from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekly (Monday - Thursday) from residences and small businesses. To find out your collection day call 856-CITY (2489) or look up your day here. Bags or carts should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. with the proper trash tag or decal attached. You can purchase annual decals for $40 each for a 32 gallon can or $80 each for 64 a gallon can at City Hall (prorated after October). All households and businesses that receive City of Lynchburg trash collection services are provided one trash cart at no charge. The cart remains at the property of the City of Lynchburg and must remain with the assigned property.
If you choose not to use a decal, then trash needs to be placed in specially marked 33-gallon Lynchburg Blue Bags, available at most convenience and grocery stores. The bag are packaged in rolls of five (5) and cost $6.25/roll. Learn more about how and when to use the blue bags.
The City of Lynchburg no longer owns/manages the landfill. However, it is now owned and managed by a regional authority. Additionally, the Concord Turnpike Landfill is only open for residents. All business and industry waste goes to the Campbell County Landfill. Landfill Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday.
The Landfill is closed on, New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.For more information, please visit this website:
