Battalion Chief Keith Johnson
Battalion Chief Keith Johnson has 26 years of service with the Lynchburg Fire Department and is currently serving in Battalion II C shift with ancillary responsibilities as the Hazardous Materials Team Coordinator and the Apparatus Fleet Coordinator.
Keith has served in many suppression and EMS capacities during his tenure. Chief Johnson completed numerous safety initiatives as the department’s first Health and Safety Officer. He has been an integral part in the development of both the Technical Rescue and Hazardous materials response teams in Lynchburg. His certifications include Hazardous Materials Specialist, Adjunct Fire Service Instructor, and Fire Officer III. He holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Science and is a graduate of the Executive Fire officer Program at the National Fire Academy.
Keith still enjoys being engaged in all aspects of the fire service. He also manages programs including breathing apparatus acquisition and maintenance programs, as well maintaining state of the art suppression equipment to ensure the employees are equipped with adequate tools to do their jobs.
Chief Johnson encourages employees to be motivated and safe while providing great emergency services to the citizens of Lynchburg.
