Battalion 2 — A Shift
Battalion Chief Ninette Heath serves as a field operation Battalion Chief currently assigned to Station 7
, (home to our Hazardous Material Team
.) She is a certified hazardous materials technician. She operates as liaison between the Lynchburg Fire Department and Lynchburg Regional Airport. As a field Battalion Chief, she provides supervision to four stations. Some of her duties include:
Command and supervision of individuals performing suppression, emergency medical services, technical rescue and hazardous materials activities to effectively mitigate emergency situations;
Providing medical assistance and rescue services in order to save lives and minimize property damage;
Responding to emergencies and assuming command and responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of personnel and equipment assigned to that emergency, in accordance with the Incident Management System;
Monitoring training activities of all assigned personnel;
Conducting regular inspections of fire stations, equipment and personnel, as well as reviewing emergency operations to promote efficient performance; and
Assists in tracking AFG grant funding purchases and maintenance of equipment purchase and placement records.
Battalion Chief Heath has been with the Lynchburg Fire Department since July, 1984. She worked on the medic unit for the first three years of her career and has served in the suppression division for the past 26 years. She holds an Associate's Degree in Fire Science and is certified as a Nationally Registered Paramedic. She has held the designation of Executive Fire Officer since 2006.
