    If you are looking for a fun and social way to improve your health, then you've come to the right place. The clubs and groups below provide a great opportunity to get healthy while getting the support you need and making new friends in the process.

    Walk Wednesdays

    Walk Wednesdays (in the late summer) is a group of City employees that get together in the months leading up the Virginia 10/4 Miler to prepare for the big race. With no expectations except to have fun and build new friendships, the group is a great way to stay motivated and have fun while working towards a new personal best whether it be walking or running.     Mindful Meditation

    Are you looking to escape for a few minutes? Maybe restore your balance midweek? Then check out the Mindful Meditation group that meets every Wednesday morning in the Large City Manger's Conference Room @ 8:00. 

    Weight Watchers

    If you are looking to improve your diet and your overall health, then Weight Watchers may just be what you are looking for. With a holistic approach to a healthier lifestyle, you can find the tools and support you need by joining the City of Lynchburg's Weight Watchers group.     Does the thought of standing up in front of a group stress you out? If you are looking to improve your public speaking skills, then Toastmasters may be what you need. Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere.     You don't have to be Novak Djokovic or Serena Williams to enjoy a great game of tennis. Join your fellow tennis enthusiasts for a pick up game at Peaksview Park Tennis Courts. Tennis Club meets every Monday evening at 6 PM throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall months. Contact: Catherine Henry

    Bowling For Fun

    Looking to have a good time away from the office but still hang out with colleagues? Or maybe you want to brush up on your skills before the fall season kicks off. Either way, a group of employees will be meeting up every Thursday at the AMF bowling alley to knock down pins and have a good time. Meeting time is at 6PM. Contact: Lisa Moss

    Zumba PM

    Put on by the Parks and Recreation department, Zumba PM is a total workout, combining great elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy, and a serious dose of fun every time you go to class.     Yoga in the Park

    Start the morning with Yoga Goodness Studio’s owner Cyndi Lee, founder of the world-renowned OM yoga center in NYC. Each week’s class will be taught by Cyndi or another yoga teacher from Lynchburg’s new Yoga Goodness Studio. Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the beauty of yoga outdoors at Riverside Park.
