Growing Tinbridge Hill - A Sustainable Neighborhood Plan for Tinbridge Hill

The "2014 Sustainable Neighborhood Plan for Tinbridge Hill" and the Growing Tinbridge Hill initiative represents the important milestone of the ongoing rich history and culture within Tinbridge Hill.  Goals achieved in the compilations of the "2014 Sustainable Neighborhood Plan for Tinbridge Hill" and the Growing Tinbridge Hill initiative were to document and update the 1996 Tinbridge Hill Plan, identify current conditions and neighborhood issues.  The plan's data examined the neighborhood from a number of different aspects:  people and housing, employment, physical environment, land use and zoning, property values, rehabilitation and infrastructure.  It also included an assessment of the condition of properties and structures in the neighborhood.

A Neighborhood Summit hosted on July 20, 2013 highlighted key ideas resulted in a Neighborhood Assessment Report.  Information from this report came from technical neighborhood conditions, community input and interviews about neighborhood concerns and assets.  Community interview, collation of available statistical data and visual surveys of all properties was a collaborative venture for the completion of the "2014 Sustainable Neighborhood Plan for Tinbridge Hill" and the Growing Tinbridge Hill initiative.

The community has been creative in seeking ways to address issues of substandard housing, crime prevention, leadership roles and education, employment opportunities, recreation and infrastructure needs.  Residents and stakeholders have preserved and enhanced the culture of this important community from decade long commitment.  Partnerships, participation and resources involved neighborhood leaders, nonprofit groups, a consultant team, area organizations, Lynchburg's college communities, faith based organizations, the City of Lynchburg and the work and energy of neighborhood residents.  Therefore, commitment and dedication is the result of Tinbridge Hill's latest chapter in a foundational story of building a successful neighborhood from the ground up.
