The Information Technology Department provides services to support the operation of City departments. The department is comprised of four operating divisions; Administration & Support Services, Application Services, GIS Services and Network Services.
The Administration Division provides administration, management and planning for the department. The division is responsible for centralized management of the City's technology project portfolio, provides oversight for cable TV franchises, and coordinates with external groups to enhance broadband services in the community. Support Services provides administrative services to the department, manages the Help Desk and provides a customer relationship management role with City departments.
The Application Services Division is responsible for the planning, implementation and management of the City's general government application portfolio. The portfolio is focused on the key governmental systems that include financial, human resources, tax assessment, billing and revenue as well as other key department-specific functions.
The GIS Division is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the City’s enterprise geographic information system. GIS provides a wide range of services to support the various City departments in planning and decision making. The data is also available for use by business, citizens and outside organizations through an on line mapping application.
The Network Services Division provides the engineering and operational support of the City's data and voice networks. This includes the City's local area network, the wide area network interconnecting City locations and the City's connections to the public Internet as well as interconnectivity to the City School's network. These services include:
- Server and associated operating systems support
- E-mail services
- Network and server security, monitoring and management
- Desktop management and support
- Network engineering, including design and implementation
- Telecommunications support and management
