    Library Volunteer Opportunities

You are invited to join our growing group of dedicated volunteers! By sharing your time and talent with us, you can make a big difference in the quality of library services in our community. Our volunteers range in age from 13 to 80. Some do short term projects, and some have been here since the volunteer program started in 1995.

Volunteers work side by side with staff in many library activities. Typical volunteer tasks are:

    •  mending books
    • cleaning videos
    • dusting bookshelves
    • assisting at the circulation desk
    • sorting gift materials
    • searching for books
    • labeling paperbacks
    • shelf-reading
    • assisting with children's programs
    • preparing craft materials
    • computer data entry
    • computer searching
    • sorting books
    • preparing outreach materials

If you need more information or would like to volunteer please telephone our Volunteer Coordinator, Melody Carlton at 434-455-6306.

You can fill out an application online or download a print copy and return it to the Main Library at 2315 Memorial Ave.
