McConville Rd Replacement Project
The McConville Road Culver Replacement Project includes replacing an existing 36" culvert with a 60" culvert and realignment and reconstruction of approximately ¼ mile of McConville Road. The existing pipe carries a small stream under the McConville Road and is both too small and beyond its service life. The roadway's horizontal and vertical alignment has been adjusted to meet acceptable design standards that improve the curves and dips found in the existing road. In addition to the roadway improvements, the City will upgrade an existing clay sewer pipe under the roadway to ductile iron. Approximately 1,140 feet of old waterline will also be replaced and improved.
To accomplish the work, the roadway will be closed and detours will be posted to ensure local traffic has access to both businesses and homes along McConville Rd. Through traffic will have to utilize Route 501 (Lynchburg Expressway) as a detour around the road closure.
