Lynchburg City School Board Vacancies
Lynchburg City Council invites residents interested in serving on the School Board to visit www.lynchburgva.gov/school-board to complete an online application. An applicant for a position on the Lynchburg School Board who is selected for an interview by City Council will be required to sign a consent form authorizing the City to obtain the applicant’s state and national criminal background records. The failure of an applicant to sign a consent form will disqualify the applicant for consideration of appointment to the School Board. A printable version of the application is also available on the website or you may obtain a copy from the Clerk of Council Office, City Hall, 900 Church Street, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
City Council will make appointments for three-year terms of office commencing July 1, 2018, and ending June 30, 2021.
A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, 7:30 p.m., to receive nominations for City Council’s consideration of appointment or reappointment to the three School Board positions (one from each district). The public hearing will be held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 900 Church Street, and applications must be received by the Clerk of Council prior to the May 8 public hearing.
