Beginning Friday, February 8 and continuing through Friday, February 15, as part of Black History Month, the Lynchburg Museum, 901 Court Street, will display items from Lynchburg’s African-American veterans. Admission to the Museum is free to all visitors.
African-Americans have been a part of the United States Armed Services since the Revolutionary War. Many black men and women from Lynchburg served, and some of them were killed in action. Items on display will include photographs, letters and uniforms dating from WWI and WWII through more recent conflicts like Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The Museum is open Monday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 12 noon - 4:00 p.m.
