On December 7, as part of First Friday, the Lynchburg Museum, located at 901 Court Street, will have extended hours, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and will feature folk art of Lynchburg and area artists. Admission to the Museum is free.
People from Lynchburg and Central Virginia have long expressed themselves through a variety of artistic media, and they created remarkable artwork from supplies found in their environment. On display will be items dated from the early 19th century through modern times including textiles, illustrations and figurines. While many of the creators’ names are unknown, items by familiar artists such as Olivia Cardwell, Tom Leachman and Mary Diuguid will also be featured.
All materials will remain on display throughout the weekend. The Museum is open on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, 12 noon - 4:00 p.m.
