Midtown Connector Project Update - 12th Street Closure to Expand

On Friday, August 15, the north bound lane of 12th Street between Kemper and Buchanan Streets will be closed to accommodate street, sidewalk, and storm sewer improvements associated with the Midtown Connector construction project.  Residents in this area will be allowed access; however, through traffic will be directed to use the existing detour in place.  This closure will remain throughout the duration of construction on 12th Street.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the Kemper and 12th Street areas or to use alternate routes if at all possible.
The Midtown Connector construction project began during the summer of 2012 and is expected to be complete in the summer of 2015. The $18 million project includes road widening, a roundabout and upgrades to storm sewers, water lines, sanitary sewers and pedestrian facilities.
