Jenny Jones, Director of the City of Lynchburg’s Parks & Recreation Department has announced the new manager for the Lynchburg Community Market. Ricky Kowalewski, who has held the position of Assistant Community Market Manager, will assume the role of Market Manager on Wednesday, May 1. Kowalewski became the Community Market’s Assistant Manager in June 2018 and served as Acting Manager upon the departure of Jennifer Kennedy who recently left her position to move out of state.
Prior to his employment at the Lynchburg Community Market, Kowalewski worked in the food industry and was the Program Coordinator for Bloomfield Development Corporation near Pittsburgh, PA which operated a large farmer’s market. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Seton Hill University and will receive his Farmers Market Managers Certification from the Virginia Farmers Market Association at the end of April.
Jenny Jones stated, “Ricky brings the right experiences and attitude to the Lynchburg Community Market. He understands its history and heritage and also recognizes that Lynchburg is a haven for Millennial transplants and that the Lynchburg Community Market will play a key role in creating community spaces for all ages.”
