    Railroad Crossings to Temporarily Close for Maintenance (Beginning May 15)

    UPDATE (May 9, 2019)
    The City of Lynchburg has been notified of a change in the schedule which will affect the closings of the railroad crossings located at Garnet Street and Washington Street:

    The new closure dates are as follows:
    Garnet Street closing              On or around Monday, May 13
    Washington Street closing      On or around Tuesday, May 14


    May 8 Release - The City of Lynchburg has been informed by Southern Commercial Development, LLC, a contractor for CSX Transportation, that routine maintenance will be performed on the railroad crossings located at Garnet Street (between E Lynch Street and Concord Turnpike) and Washington Street (at Jefferson Street) beginning Wednesday, May 15. The closures will be in place between two and five days. (Please note that any/all dates are subject to change due to weather and/or other conditions.)  
     
    Motorists will need to access the Lower Basin via Winston Ridge Road or Route. 460. Signage will be in place marking detour routes.
