UPDATE FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 29, 2018

The City of Lynchburg is anticipating a mixture of snow and rain beginning at approximately
12 midnight, Tuesday, January 30 and continuing through the early morning hours. Although no large accumulation of snow is expected, temperatures are expected to drop into the high 20’s. Any snow/moisture remaining on the roadways is expected to freeze, and icy conditions will likely be present during this time.

The Public Works Department is prepared to respond to this event and will have crews working overnight with spreader operations conducted as needed.

The public is encouraged to avoid travel if at all possible and use extreme caution if travel does become necessary.

    Priorities for clearing streets are:

    • Priority 1:  Clearing of all primary streets and heaviest traffic routes
    • Priority 2:  Clearing of all collector streets and bus routes
    • Priority 3:  Plowing of all residential streets if more than two inches of snow exists
