    Detention Center Programs

In addition to housing youth who are serving short te rm sentences or who are awaiting adjudication or disposition from the Court, the Lynchburg Regional Juvenile Detention Center (LRJDC) also houses participants from several programs governed by The Department of Juvenile Justice.  Please see below for information on each of these programs.

    Post Dispositional Program

The mission of the Post-D program is to provide a local treatment program that offers educational and individualized services which promote the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders through facility and community based programs.  Post-D youth are sentenced to serve 180 days for committing non-violent juvenile offenses.  While in the program, they can earn the opportunity to have home visits, participate in community service, and in special circumstances may obtain employment.  For further information, please visit www.vdapp.org/home.

    Community Placement Program (CPP)

The Community Placement Program (CPP) is a highly structured, disciplined residential program for those youth that are serving a sentence with the Department of Juvenile Justice. A goal of the CPP is to place residents closer to their home communities to facilitate an easier transition after release. CPPs focus on addressing specific treatment needs and risk factors and developing competency in the areas of education, job readiness, and life and social skills. Services provided focus on risk factors that can be changed using cognitive behavioral techniques and tailoring services to meet individual needs. The target juveniles for CPPs are males between 16 and 20 years of age with assigned length of stays of 12 months or less.  For further information, please visit www.djj.virginia.gov/pages/residential/cpp.

    Re-Entry Program

The Detention Reentry Program provides residents an option for transitioning from a Juvenile Correctional Center (JCC) to a local detention facility in close proximity to their home community from 30 to 120 days prior to discharge from commitment onto parole. The goal of the program is to establish connections with communities and families. The focus of detention reentry is to prepare youth for progressively increased responsibility and freedom, facilitate family interaction and involvement, and establish relationships and begin work with the offender and targeted community support systems.  For further information, please visit  www.djj.virginia.gov/pages/residential/detention-reentry.

There are two case workers for these programs.  For more information, please contact the Coordinator, Pamela Jeffries at (434) 455-7889 or by email pamela.jeffries@lynchburgva.gov.
