Wards Ferry Rd & Logans Ln Construction Project
Wards Ferry Road Improvements
The 2013 Wards Ferry Road Corridor Study recommended a number of improvements along Wards Ferry Road. This construction project is the implementation of the first phase of recommendations from the corridor study. The project includes the installation a dedicated right turn lane and an additional left turn lane at the intersection of Wards Ferry and Timberlake Roads. It also includes the construction of turn lanes at the Heritage High School entrance and Adams Drive as well as the construction of a shared use path.
Logans Lane Improvements
The traffic congestion at the Timberlake Expressway off-ramp spurred the need to perform at traffic study of the interchange. The traffic study recommended reconfiguring the off-ramp to combine the off-ramp with Logans Lane, eliminating the need for the traffic signal at the end of the ramp, and eliminating the frequent weave maneuver from exit ramp traffic to the Timberlake left turn lane to access Wards Ferry Road. This along with the extension of the left turn lane on Timberlake to serve Wards Ferry Road will improve safety and reduce congestion.
Both projects are currently advertised for bid. The projects are bid together. One contractor will be selected for both projects, which shall be constructed concurrently. Anticipated start date is late May, 2017. The projects are scheduled to be complete in 2 years.
