    Police Cadet Program

    The Lynchburg, Virginia Police Department is a highly trained, professional, well-equipped and respected organization that offers a Police Cadet program. The position of Police Cadet is a preparatory step towards future employment as a sworn police officer of the Lynchburg Police Department.

    Qualifications

    Applicants must be between the ages of 18 years and 20 years of age and at a minimum be a Spring candidate for graduation from high school or possess a G.E.D. Applicants must successfully complete a written exam, oral interview, an extensive background investigation, medical exam, psychological evaluation and essential physical skills evaluation. The applicant must be eligible for a Virginia driver's license and possess a safe driving record. Other requirements include 20/30 vision or correctable to 20/30 in each eye; no conviction of felonies or crimes of moral turpitude; no recent or prolonged use of marijuana; no use or illegal possession of any controlled drugs. Successful applicants must possess excellent written and verbal communication and problem solving skills.

    Minimum starting salary is $22,048 plus benefits.
