Fifth Annual Chase the Chill

Chase the Chill was held on Thursday, January 7. A local group of dedicated knitters spent the past year creating more than 800 toasty warm scarves, hats, blankets and more for anyone in need. Knitted items were placed at the Human Services building and Park View Mission. Thank you for your kindness!

Holiday Closing

Lynchburg Municipal Offices will be CLOSED on Monday, February 15.

Trash will be collected following the NORMAL schedule.

Concord Turnpike Convenience Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Update on Trash Collection

For the past several months, a number of refuse collection customers have experienced issues with their trash pickup. The following is an update from the City of Lynchburg’s Director of Public Works, Gaynelle Hart about the issues of trash collection and how the department intends to address these issues.

800 Block of Church St. Temporarily Closed (May 25 - June 8)

May 22, 2020

Beginning Monday, May 25 and continuing through Monday, June 8, between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. the 800 block of Church Street will be temporarily closed to allow the Altus Group, Inc. to install water/sewer lines as part of a City project. A detour will be posted.
 

Percival's Island Trails Closed - Caution Notice Issued

The City of Lynchburg has closed the Percival’s Island urban trail and the beach because of a safety concern with the rising James River due to the recent excessive rainfall. Both will remain closed until further notice. The Department of Parks and Recreation is also recommending people exercise caution while using other urban trails throughout the city as creeks may also be overflowing their banks.
 

Midtown Townhomes Petition Withdrawn

On Tuesday, May 19, City Planner Tom Martin received notification from the engineering firm, Perkins & Orrison, Inc., that their client, TPB Enterprises, LLC (Tom Bell), made the decision to withdraw both the petition for a conditional use permit to allow fill within the 100 Year Floodplain at 127 Brunswick Drive and 197 Buckingham Drive and the petition to rezone approximately thirteen (13) acres from R-1, Low Density Residential to R-4, High Density Residential to allow the construction of seventy-two (72) townhouse units at 197 Buckingham Drive.
