Temporary Lane Closure on Lakeside Drive
February 07, 2020Beginning Sunday night, February 9 and continuing through Thursday night, February 13 from 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., a portion of Lakeside Drive will experience a lane closure (from Breezeway Drive just past Country Place Lane) to accommodate contractors conducting pavement boring operations. This work is weather dependent.
Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone and be aware of crews working in the roadway. Access will be maintained to parking lots in the area. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
Proposed Changes to Trash Collection
January 24, 2020The City of Lynchburg’s Public Works Department will conduct two public meetings to discuss proposed changes to the trash collection system including bulk and brush.
Plans for Villas at Lynchburg Canceled
December 06, 2019The City of Lynchburg has been notified by the engineering firm, Acres of Virginia, that their client, NRM Associates, has canceled their contract with the property owner and will no longer be pursuing the development of the Villas of Lynchburg project.
They cited opposition from the neighborhood and concern expressed by the Planning Division as reasons for the decision.

Water Main Break on Clayton Ave.
October 23, 2019Due to a water main break on Clayton Avenue, residents of Clayton Avenue and portions of Morningside Drive and Spottswood Place are without water service. Other residents in the area may experience discolored water or low water pressure. Our crews are on the scene and assessing the situation.
Trash Cart Delays
October 17, 2019The City of Lynchburg’s Department of Public Works is apologizing to customers who are waiting for replacement 32-gallon trash carts. According to Public Works Director Gaynelle Hart, a delay in the axles for the carts has caused a backlog in deliveries to residents who have asked to have their carts replaced or switched to the smaller cart size.
Artstorm Drain Painting on Fifth St. (Oct. 19)
October 17, 2019On Saturday, October 19, traffic will be moving slowly on Fifth Street from Church Street to Jackson Street starting at 8:30 a.m. There will be six local artists painting storm drains along the road to encourage the public to think about their impact on our streams and watersheds. The public is encouraged to come watch the installation.
Main Street Renewal Project Update - Oct 19
October 16, 2019Beginning Saturday, October 19 and lasting approximately three weeks, Appalachian Power will be working underground at the intersection of Ninth and Main Streets as part of the Main Street Renewal Project. The intersection will be closed to through vehicular traffic on Ninth Street between Commerce and Church Streets, but access to parking lots and decks on Ninth Street will remain. One lane of through traffic will be open on Main Street in the 900 block with continued access to the Mid-Town parking deck.
