CARES Utility Relief Funds

Lynchburg utility disconnections will resume in March after a year-long suspension. If your account is delinquent, you still have time to take advantage of the CARES Utility Relief Funds to receive assistance because the deadline has been extended. Funds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Every effort will be made to ensure the distribution of this assistance will be as equitable as possible. You may complete the application online at www.lynchburgva.gov/CARES. The application can also be printed and returned by mail or left in the drop-off box in front of City Hall, 900 Church Street. (NOTE: City Hall is still closed to the public.) Lastly, you may submit the information by calling (434) 455-3840 during the business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Some customers may not qualify for assistance through the CARES Utility Relief Funds program but may still have difficulty paying their water utility bill. If you are in that situation, you are encouraged to contact the Billings and Collections Office to set up a payment plan in order to avoid having your service disconnected. You may set up a payment plan by calling the number above.
