Cellular Read Meters
What is Cellular Read Technology?
Lynchburg Water Resources has contracted with Bitter Creek Construction to upgrade water meters to cellular read water meters. Instead of our meter technicians reading your meter by radio transmission once a month, our crews now receive the data daily. We will be able to notify you of a possible leak right away. This new technology is exciting because it improves efficiency, accuracy, and information about your water usage.
What does it mean for you?
The new technology allows you to be more informed about how much water you’re using. The system delivers the data through the EyeOnWater website and app, which can be downloaded onto your mobile device. While our crews check for leaks each day, EyeOnWater allows you to know of a possible leak IMMEDIATELY - even if you’re away from home. That means tremendous cost savings and reduced property damage because a leak can be detected right away instead of days or weeks later.
When will this technology be available?
We will be transitioning the entire City to Cellular Read Technology. You will be notified via mail when your meter is upgraded. You can sign up for EyeOnWater before your meter is transitioned to check your monthly water meter reading.
