Employment Policies & Procedures

The Employment Policies & Procedures manual has been updated due to new state legislation effective July 1, 2020:
  • Sexual orientation, gender identity, military status, status as a veteran, marital status and pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions (including lactation) have been added as protected classes.
  • The City does not discriminate against persons on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions (including lactation). Upon a request for an accommodation related to one or more of these conditions, management will engage in an interactive process with the requestor to ensure appropriate measures are taken to accommodate the condition pursuant to Federal and State law.
The full list of protected classes now reads as “race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, military status, status as a veteran, marital status, pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions (including lactation), sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other basis prohibited by Federal or State law.”
