Lakeside Drive Bridge Over Blackwater Creek Project Update

The Lakeside Drive Bridge Over Blackwater Creek Project remains on schedule with final completion set for spring 2023. Work outside of existing roadways consists of installation of storm drainage, construction of bridge substructure, erection of retaining walls and minor grading operations. This work will continue with no impacts to roadways or traffic for the next several months. As a reminder, local trails through the project site remain closed to the public, and citizens are asked to not enter the jobsite due to ongoing construction and safety concerns.

Once completed, the project will reconstruct a new section of Lakeside Drive in order to improve traffic flow through the existing intersection at Lakeside Drive, College Drive and Old Forest Road and as a requested precursor to the College Lake Dam Removal Project. These modifications will enhance safety and improve access to the University of Lynchburg via Hopwood Drive.
