Social Media Intern:
The Social Media Intern will assist the Digital Media Assistant in creating content to be shared on Lynchburg Water Resources’ social media accounts, which include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Nextdoor. The intern will create the graphics as well as the message for social media accounts. An ideal candidate is punctual, creative, self-driven, and can work well individually as well as part of a team. The ideal candidate also has strong communication and writing skills, interest in digital media, marketing, advertising, exceptional interpersonal skills, and experience with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and graphic design. The social media intern will report to the Digital Media Assistant on project updates biweekly. The internship would require approximately 3 hours of work a week.
The Education Intern will assist education and outreach staff with the development of virtual curriculum and virtual lessons. Additionally, the education intern will assist with correlating existing curriculum and videos to Virginia SOLs. Education Interns will be trained on existing LWR education programming before developing new curriculum. An ideal candidate is punctual, creative, self-driven, and can work well individually as well as part of a team. The ideal candidate also has strong communication and writing skills, interest in water and environmental education, exceptional interpersonal skills, and experience teaching. The education intern will report to the Education and Outreach Coordinator on project updates biweekly. The internship would require approximately 3 hours of work a week.
Lynchburg Water Resources Public Relations Division Office is seeking a student communications intern to fill a part-time, photo- and video-intensive position starting during the spring/summer/ fall of 2021. The intern will be asked to work 10-15 hours per week, which could include covering events during evenings and weekends. The intern's responsibilities will include the following:
• On-location photography coverage events
• Additional video coverage and editing as needed.
• Visual support for social media, publications, and websites in the form of a photo, video, and possibly graphic design work.
• Generating marketing ideas targeting design students and supporting related activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
The intern reports to public relations specialist. The ideal candidate should have experience shooting photos and video with pro-level DSLR-type cameras and experience processing/editing/retouching acquired media files through software such as Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. Additional knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) will also be needed for graphic design support tasks. The intern must demonstrate attention to detail and possess above-average photography and videography skills.
The internship is open to rising juniors and seniors, as well as graduate students, majoring in advertising, marketing, graphic design, film, or related field.
