    Voter Information for Upcoming General Election (Nov. 2)

    The Commonwealth of Virginia and the City of Lynchburg will hold a general election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Any voter in the city may vote in the general election for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Commonwealth Attorney, Constitutional Officers and House of Delegates District 22 and District 23.

    Voters have four options to vote in these elections. The Commonwealth and the City Registrar’s Office encourage voters to protect their health during the COVID-19 outbreak.

    1. Apply online or request an application to vote by mail. The deadline to apply for a Vote by Mail ballot is Friday, October 22, 2021. Apply online here or request a Vote by Mail application by calling the Registrar’s Office at (434) 477-5999.

    After applying, voters may check to see if their absentee application was received and whether their ballot was sent and received by visiting the Citizen Portal here.

    2. Early Voting In-Person
    In-person early voting will begin at the Registrar’s Office, 825 Kemper Street, Suite A on Friday, September 17 and will continue through Saturday, October 30. For convenience, the Registrar’s Office will be open on Saturday, October 23 and Saturday, October 30, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Note: You do not have to have a reason or fill out an application to vote early. To vote early in-person, please do the following:

    } At the Registrar’s Office, you must provide your name and address and show an acceptable form of ID or sign an ID Confirmation Statement.
    } Accessible equipment and/or curbside voting is available upon request.

    3. Ballot Dropboxes
    Completed ballots may be dropped off in a secure box at the Registrar’s Office. The dropbox will be available the same dates, times as the early voting hours listed above. For curbside voters, staff will come to the curbside for voters to drop off their ballots in the secure box. In addition, secure dropboxes staffed by election officials will be available at each precinct on Election Day. 

    4. Voting in-person on November 2
    All precincts will be open for in-person voting on election day on Tuesday, November 2 from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Those who have not yet registered to vote in Lynchburg or need to make name and/or address changes on our records must file a voter registration application by Tuesday, October 14.
