Parking
The City of Lynchburg operates several public parking facilities in the Central Business District.
- For a quick downtown visit, there are 1,000 on-street parking spaces including handicapped parking spaces.
- For longer visits to downtown, there are approximately 1,485 off-street parking spaces which are managed by the City. Approximately 1,000 of these spaces are available to the public. There are an estimated 4,137 privately-owned or managed parking spaces in the downtown area.
- Visits on nights (5 pm - 8 am), weekends and City Holidays (New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Holiday 1 and Christmas Holiday 2) are free.
The Parking Management Department manages and operates off-street parking facilities, issues permits, provides the public with parking information, and works closely with the Parking Authority.
The Enforcement Officers enforce the parking policy and ordinance within the Central Business District.
