State of the City Address
Each year the Mayor and Vice Mayor hosts the State of the City Address, usually on a Monday evening in late February or early March. The Mayor and Vice Mayor present speeches that summarize the City's state over the past year. The Mayor and Vice Mayor also present the Mayor's Award of Excellence and the Vice Mayor's Award of Excellence awards. City Council nominates individuals from Lynchburg who have made a lasting/and/or important impact on the community through volunteer and philanthropy efforts. The Mayor and Vice Mayor select the recipients each year and present them with a framed Lynchburg photo award. A video highlighting some of their accomplishments is shown during the award presentation at the Address.
