Steering Committee

Purpose

  • To help facilitate future progress in the merger
  • Provide linkage between all the task forces
  • Guide future direction of the initiative
  • Make recommendations for City grant funding
  • Provide continuous evaluation and measurement of progress for task forces and Bridges to Progress as a whole to ensure we are making a difference

Member’s Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings (but not lead)     
  • Serve as communication link between task force and steering committee
  • Provide accountability
  • Make sure task force/facilitators use new name—further branding will be coming
  • Find out next task force meeting and plan to attend and be prepared to bring back to steering committee
  • Inform facilitators about January meeting the date of which is to be determined

Accomplishments

  • Organized and started meeting 
  • Election of officers: Joan Phelps/Chair, Lindsey Lockewood & Owen Cardwell/Co-Vice Chairs, and Ruth Talian/Secretary
  • Set meeting schedule: fourth Wednesday of each month, fifth floor conference room, Human Services Building, 99 Ninth St.     
  • Renamed committees as Task Forces to better reflect the work being done
  • Working with City of Lynchburg’s Communications & Marketing for branding and logo
  • Adopted a new logo for Bridges to Progress
  • Merging the Bridges of Central Virginia and Poverty to Progress websites into the Bridges to Progress website
